Department to Partner with Middle Georgia State College - New online training courses to be offered
Forsyth - The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is partnering with Middle Georgia State College (MGSC) to develop and host online training for GDC staff. MGSC, in partnership with GDC, will produce online courses that include videos, interactive features and quizzes that are designed to ensure knowledge retention.
"This partnership has provided us with an alternative, cost effective and convenient means to provide training hours to our staff," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "We are proud to partner with MGSC as this meets the goal of Governor Nathan Deal by working together with another state agency for the purpose of accomplishing one goal while saving taxpayers' money."
This partnership was positioned by the GDC training division and through the efforts of MGSC's E-Learning Development Team, Dean of Distance Learning Darryl Hancock, Director of Academic Technology Services Charles Smith, Training Director Gail Donnelly, Academy Director Antonnio Printup, Former Leadership Development Unit Manager Cathy Smith-Curry and E-learning Development Specialist Joycelyn Lucas.
Commissioner Brian Owens and President Christopher Blake of MSGC are to sign this Intergovernmental Agreement on March 25, 2014 at 9:00 AM in the Commissioner's Board Room at State Offices South at Tift College. The signing ceremony will be followed with a tour of the GDC campus.
