New Superintendent at Phillips Transitional Center

Kevin Perry Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Kevin Perry to Superintendent at Phillips Transitional Center (TC) effective January 16, 2021. As Superintendent, Perry will be responsible for overseeing approximately 21 staff members and 204 male residents.

“Perry has been a dedicated employee who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in each position he has held,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “His correctional knowledge will greatly benefit the staff and residents at Phillips TC.”

Perry began his career with the Department in 1993 as a Correctional Officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison. In 1994, he transferred to Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP) as a Correctional Officer II. While serving at ASMP, Perry was promoted to Sergeant in 2002. Perry transferred to Phillips State Prison in 2004 and rose through the ranks as Lieutenant, Captain, and Unit Manager. In 2015, Perry was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Clayton Transitional Center, and in 2016 he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Phillips State Prison, where he most recently served.

Perry is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice through Columbus State University. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program, Advanced Management Training, Basic Counselor Training, PREA Compliance Manager Training, and Deputy Warden’s Academy.
