Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
1) On June 5, 2012, a female civilian visited the Coffee County Correctional Facility and requested an application. Front entrance staff observed the civilian place a bag in the trash can outside the entrance door. Staff checked the bag and found six (6) cell phones and three (3) dime size bags of marijuana. The Nicholls Police Department arrested the civilian Tasha Jackson. While en route to the Sheriff's Office, she pointed out a vehicle with two other females. She advised the Police Chief that they were the ones who brought her to the prison. Officers stopped and searched the vehicle and found receipts to the cell phones. Civilians arrested were Tasha Jackson, Kristen Walker and Annie Dellemar.
2) On June 9, 2012, Telfair State Prison staff smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from visitor Connie Sue Carruth in the visitation room. Visitor Carruth consented to a search and officers found 39 bags of marijuana weighing 2.11 ounces. The Helena Police Department arrested Carruth.
3) On June 9, 2012, Telfair State Prison staff smelled a strong odor of marijuana on visitor Christina L. Norman in the visitation room. Visitor Norman consent to a search and staff members found four (4) small bags of marijuana on her person. The Helena Police Department arrested Norman.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
