Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 611 CIVILIANS AND 116 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
1) On July 4, 2013 at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison, an officer retrieved two potato chip bags from visitor Charity Gary who was visiting an inmate. In each bag, officers found marijuana, totaling up to two ounces. Visitor Charity Gary and her mother Debra Gary were arrested by the Butts County Sheriff Department.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
