Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 616 CIVILIANS AND 117 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
1) On July 10, 2013 at Georgia State Prison, Officer Shearnease Jordan was arrested for attempting to introduce five bundles of tobacco into the facility. Officer Jordan attempted to run away when she saw that staff had to clear the Cellsense device when entering the facility. She was stopped at her vehicle and she admitted to having tobacco on her person. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office was notified and arrested Officer Jordan for Contraband Across a Guard Line and Violation of Oath of Office.
2) On July 13, 2013 at Telfair State Prison, an officer spotted an individual near the perimeter road. Officers responded and a black male wearing a black shirt and pants was spotted near a low area near the perimeter road. The Telfair County Sheriff's Office was notified and apprehended the individual. The individual was identified as Enoch Howard. He was in possession of five footballs and four bundles of tobacco wrapped in clear plastic. A check of the inner perimeter was conducted and an additional two bundles of tobacco wrapped in plastic was found. The contents of the 11 packages contained 42 cell phones, four lbs. of tobacco, eight lighters and three small packages of marijuana.
3) On July 13, 2013 at Valdosta State Prison, visitor Lugenia Moore attempted to enter the facility with two bags of marijuana. The contraband fell out of her bra when she raised her arms during a search of her person. The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office was contacted and arrested visitor Moore.
4) On July 14, 2013 at Wilcox State Prison, a Sheriff noticed a dark colored vehicle parked near the cemetery on the road leading to the facility. The Sheriff noted that the vehicle made several passes prior to stopping at the cemetery. The Abbeville Police Department was notified and stopped the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were Donna Robinson, Wendy Traylor and Bobby James Palmer. Civilian Donna Robinson admitted to the police officer that she was dropping contraband off for an inmate housed at Wilcox State Prison to pick up during a work detail. A search of the cemetery was conducted and officers found nine cell phones, nine chargers, 34 packs of tobacco, 10 Black and Milds, three lighters and two packs of rolling papers. Both female civilians were arrested and taken to Ben Hill County and the male civilian was taken to Wilcox County.
