Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 766 CIVILIANS AND 179 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
- On March 27, 2015 at Wilcox State Prison Food Service Supervisor Willie Dale Jackson attempted to enter the facility for work. While in the entry building she could not clear the metal detector. Jackson consented to a search and the following contraband was found on her person: three cell phones, three cell phones chargers, one phone case, and one set of ear buds. Willie Dale Jackson was arrested by the Wilcox County Sheriffï¿½s Department.
- On March 28, 2015 at Coastal State Prison staff observed Officer Bridgette Brantley acting suspicious and nervous during clearing of shift. Brantley told staff that she had something hidden on her person. She consented to a search and the following items were found on her person: a sealed vacuum-pack plastic bag containing two packs of Black & Milds, rolling papers, 1 ounce of marijuana, and 1 pound of loose tobacco.
Bridgette Brantley was arrested by the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department.
- On March 28, 2015 at Smith State Prison, staff observed a strong smell of marijuana on visitor Daquita Hicks, as she attempted to enter the facility. Hicks consented to a search 10 balloons containing a total of .5 ounces of marijuana was found on her person. Daquita Hicks was arrested by the Glennville Police Department.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
