Contraband Arrest at Rogers and Autry State Prison
On May 22, Tattnall County Sheriff's Deputies stopped a suspicious vehicle that was repeatedly driving up and down Highway 147 (one half of a mile away from Rogers State Prison). There were 3 civilians inside of the vehicle, along with 3 laundry bags on the back seat of the vehicle. The laundry bags contained the following objects: an unknown amount of cell phones wrapped in bubble wrap, and an unknown amount of an unknown substance. All three civilians were arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail. One of the subjects confessed that the contraband was for an offender.
On May 21, at Autry State Prison, Visitors Curtis Winters and Calvin Pickens were arrested by Mitchell County Sheriff's Department after the canine unit gave indication of the presence of contraband on a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The vehicle was searched and 0.7 grams of marijuana was recovered in the glove compartment of the vehicle. The visitors were also searched but no further contraband was discovered.
