Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,397 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On March 22 at Autry State Prison, officials observed a civilian walking near the facility.  As officers and deputies approached civilian Cameron Greening, a chase ensued.  The following contraband was found on his persons: tobacco, marijuana, methamphetamine, multiple cellphones with chargers, lighters, rolling paper, sim card keys, straight talk phone cards, and bolt cutters. Civilian Greening was arrested by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 22 at Telfair State Prison, Probationer Darnell Douglas was walking near the facility  carrying a bag that contained methamphetamine, marijuana, cellular phones, tobacco and charging cords. Probationer Douglas was placed under arrest by Telfair County Sheriff's Office and transported to Dodge County Jail.

On March 19 at Smith State Prison, an unknown subject was detected near the perimeter of the facility. Civilian Dantavian Taylor was found along the wood line with multiple cell phones, chargers, a pocket knife, jigsaw blades, a star bit tool set, tobacco, marijuana, package of cigarellos, pills and earbuds. The subject was turned over to Tattnall County Sheriff's Office.

On March 19 at Autry State Prison, an unknown subject was located behind the facility with a bag containing contraband. The unknown subject was transported unit to Mitchell County Jail.

On March 16 at Rogers State Prison, the perimeter officer observed an unidentified person exit a vehicle and run into the wood line. A search of the area located bags of smokeless tobacco. Civilians Millisa Green and Jesse Willis were arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.
