Contraband Arrests at Rogers and Calhoun State Prisons
On June 21, a Tattnall County Sherriff’s officer observed a blue Ford fusion on Highway 147 near the state houses at Rogers State Prison. The officer stopped the car and smelled a strong scent of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle produced 3 ounces of marijuana, 3 cell phones, and 1 loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun. Civilians Gregory Rhymes, Cameron Mclenore, Brianna Jasara, and Karlie Annclark were arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a concealed weapon.
On June 24, at Calhoun State Prison, an officer conducted a strip search of on offender, after his visitation concluded with visitor Mia Bell. During the search, a small unknown substance was discovered in his left sock wrapped in clear plastic, weighing 5 grams. Visitor Bell confessed to bringing the contraband, and consented to a search of her person. No additional contraband was found. Visitor Bell was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and crossing the guard line with unauthorized contraband.
