Contraband Arrests at Rogers State Prison
On November 9, a Tattnall County Police Sergeant patrolling the perimeter of Rogers State Prison stopped two civilians, Richard Liddy and Carla Brown, on Highway 178 for having no tag and driving erratically. The Sergeant searched the vehicle and discovered a five-dollar bill wrapped around suspected methamphetamine and a plastic grocery bag wrapped in black electrical tape that contained 120 bundles of tobacco. The Sheriff's Office arrested the civilians.
On November 10, a Tattnall County Police Sergeant patrolling the perimeter of Rogers State Prison stopped two civilians, Donna Costello and Amy Johnson, on Highway 178 for a taillight out and weaving along the road. The sergeant received consent from Costello to search the vehicle and found a black plastic bag containing the following contraband: 37 balls of tobacco, two cell phones, and one can of chewing tobacco. The Sheriff's Office arrested the civilians.
On November 13, at Rogers State Prison, a visitor reported that they observed visitor Ryan Horton pass an unknown substance to an inmate during visitation. A lieutenant then searched the inmate and three oxycodone pills were detected on his person. Visitor Horton consented to be searched and admitted that he brought contraband into the facility. Visitor Horton’s vehicle was also searched and a 9-millimeter weapon was discovered in the vehicle's armrest. Visitor Horton was arrested and taken into custody by Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.
