Execution Date Set for Monroe County Murderer
Andrew Allen Cook to be executed on Thursday, February 21FORSYTH, Ga. — The Monroe County Superior Court has ordered the execution of convicted murderer Andrew Allen Cook. The court ordered the Georgia Department of Corrections to carry out the execution Feb. 21-28. Commissioner Brian Owens has set the date for Feb. 21 at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson at 7 p.m.
Cook was convicted of the 1995 murders of Grant Hendrickson and Michele Cartagena. If executed, Cook will be the 31st inmate put to death by lethal injection.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
