Office of Investigation and Compliance Names New Deputy Director - Wilson Hall Promoted Within Audits and Compliance Unit

Forsyth - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Wilson Hall as the Deputy Director of the Audits and Compliance Unit effective Oct. 16, 2013. As the Deputy Director, Hall will assist in the management of the Audits and Compliance Unit, which is responsible for evaluating the operations of facilities and field offices to ensure safe, secure and efficient operations.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Hall joined the Department in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Ware State Prison. He worked his way through the ranks, holding positions as a Boot Camp Officer in Charge, Tactical Squad Commander and Shift Supervisor. Hall's professionalism and tactical knowledge led to his selection as the Commander of the GDC Hostage Rescue Team in 1997. He served as the Lead Instructor for the Advanced and Specialized Training Unit at the Georgia Corrections Academy from 1998 through 2010, when he was promoted to Assistant Academy Director. He simultaneously served as Assistant Academy Director and Statewide Physical Fitness Coordinator from 2010 until 2012. He was promoted to Manager of Special Operations in 2012, where he most recently served.

He received his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He will complete his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University in December 2013. Hall has completed Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program and Corrections Leadership Institute.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
