Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment named at Hays State Prison - Alisa Hammock promoted from acting status

Forsyth - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Alisa Hammock to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Hays State Prison effective January 16, 2014. As Deputy Warden, Hammock is responsible for the supervision of education, health services, library, counseling and mental health counseling at the facility housing 1266 male inmates located in Trion. "Alisa has dedicated more than sixteen years of faithful service to the Department," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "She brings a wealth of knowledge that will continue to benefit the staff and inmates at Hays State Prison."

Hammock began her career with the Department in February, 1996 as a correctional officer at Hays State Prison. In April, 1999 she was promoted to Counselor, and in June, 2005 became Chief Counselor at Hays. She began serving as the Acting Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment of Hays State Prison on Sept. 1, 2013.

Hammock received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University in 1993. She has attended several P.O.S.T. courses including Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Managing Difficult Employees, and Security Threat Groups training.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
