2019 Counselor Supervisor of the Year Named

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) honored Unit Manager John Lee of Autry State Prison (SP), as Counselor Supervisor of the Year at the 15^th Annual GDC Awards ceremony on September 24 at GDC headquarters in Forsyth, Ga.  Several key officials were on hand for the ceremony, which was attended by more than 400 guests. Making the award presentation with Commissioner Timothy C. Ward were Alton Russell, Board of Corrections Chairman, Christopher Clark and Donnie Pope, Board of Corrections, and Assistant Commissioner Jay Sanders.

“Unit Manger Lee demonstrates an exceptional work ethic and a passion for helping out wherever needed,” said Assistant Commissioner Jay Sanders “His enthusiasm, communication skills, and professional demeanor contributes to a positive work environment for staff and offenders.”

Unit Manager Lee has demonstrated during his 12 years with the department that he is an exceptional staff member and department supervisor, who is always willing to pitch in and assist wherever needed. He is always striving for success for all staff and offenders within the institution. Unit Manager Lee works long, hard and intelligently to come up with solutions to any situations that may arise.

The award is presented to a Counselor Supervisor within GDC who has empowered and enriched the counseling program at their respective facility.
