Sergeant Nicole Bennett recognized

 

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) honored Sergeant (Sgt.) Nicole Bennett of Smith State Prison, as Supervisor of the Year at the 15th Annual GDC Awards ceremony on September 24 at GDC headquarters in Forsyth, Ga. Several key officials were on hand for the ceremony, which were attended by more than 400 guests. Making the award presentation with Commissioner Timothy C. Ward was Alton Russell, Board of Corrections Chairman, Christopher Clark and Donnie Pope, Board of Corrections, and Assistant Commissioner Ricky Myrick

“Sgt. Bennett perseverance and willingness to assist wherever needed, make her an outstanding leader” said Assistant Commissioner of Facilities Ricky Myrick. “She consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty, and leads by example.”

Sgt. Bennett has worked diligently for the department for eight years.  Each day she strives to learn new skills to enhance her promotability and ensure the facility is safe and secure for staff, offenders, and the community. She consistently works with staff to provide training opportunities and assist in any way possible.  Sgt. Bennett is a mentor to many of the staff at Smith State Prison, and is truly an asset to the Department.

The Supervisor of the Year award is presented to a supervisor who exemplifies leadership by always supporting shift and facility missions.  The honor is awarded to a supervisor who mentors new employees, volunteers for additional responsibilities and consistently promotes security and safety.
