Andrew McFarlane Named Deputy Warden of Security

New Deputy Warden of Security at Rogers State Prison   

Andrew McFarlane promoted 

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Andrew McFarlane to Deputy Warden of Security at Rogers State Prison, effective August 1, 2016. As Deputy Warden of Security, McFarlane will be responsible for supervising and managing 136 security staff members and 1,391 medium security male offenders. 

“Andrew has 19 years of security experience with the Department,” said Commissioner Bryson. “The knowledge he possesses will be a great asset to Rogers State Prison.”

McFarlane began his career with the Department in 1997 as a Correctional Officer at Smith State Prison. During his tenure, he served as sergeant of the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT), Lieutenant, Lead Shift Supervisor, and Captain. In 2012, he was promoted to Unit Manager, where he currently serves.   

McFarlane served in the United States Marine Corps from 1989-1993 and served in the United States Army from 1994-1997. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Sergeants Academy, and Professional Management Program (PMP).  

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
