STATE OF GEORGIA
FORSYTH, Ga. – The execution of condemned murderer John Wayne Conner scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson was carried out on Friday, July 15, 2016, at 12:29 a.m. in accordance with state law. Conner refused a final prayer and did not record a final statement.
Conner was sentenced to death in 1982 for the murder of James T. White in Telfair County.
There have been 65 men and one woman executed in Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976. Conner was the 43rd inmate put to death by lethal injection. There are presently 61 men on death row in Georgia.
