Inmate Death Being Investigated as Apparent Suicide

 

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Pulaski State Prison in Hawkinsville, Ga.

 

On June 24 at approximately 12:35 p.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Jamika Harrison (GDC #1000859428) unresponsive in her cell. Prison medical staff, as well as Emergency Medical Technicians, attempted to revive her, but were unsuccessful, and Harrison was pronounced deceased at 1:28 p.m. by the Pulaski County Coroner. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.

 

Harrison was sentenced to 10 years in Habersham County for aggravated assault.  Further information can be found on the GDC website at http://www.gdc.ga.gov
