Inmate Death Being Investigated as Apparent Suicide
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate at Calhoun State Prison in Morgan, Ga., as a suspected suicide.
On February 4, at approximately 4:40 a.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Raymond Nelson (GDC#1133943) unresponsive in his cell. Emergency Medical Services were called. Nelson was pronounced deceased by the Calhoun County Corner at approximately 7:45 a.m. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.
Nelson was sentenced to ten years in 2011, in Whitfield County for Sex Offender Fail to Register, with a maximum release date of 2021.
