Inmate Death Being Investigated as Apparent Suicide

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Valdosta State Prison in Valdosta, Ga.

On February 15 at 6:41 p.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Joel Domingues (GDC#643024) unresponsive in his cell. Prison medical staff attempted to revive him, and he was pronounced deceased at 7:10 p.m. by the Coroner. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.

Domingues was sentenced to Life in 2001, in Dekalb County, for Murder.
