Johnson SP Hosts F&CB Graduation and Family Day

15 offenders graduate, over 100 family members attend

FORSYTH, Ga. – On July 21, Johnson State Prison (SP) hosted a graduation ceremony and Family Day for the Faith and Character Based (F&CB) Dorm. There were 15 graduates and over 100 family members who participated.

“We are proud of the men who completed this 12-month long Faith and Character Based Program,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “This is joyous occasion that strengthens family bonds and keeps offenders motivated for change.”

The F&CB Program is a secular program that focuses on personal and spiritual growth and development. The curriculum is divided into four phases: Foundation, Discovery, Transformation, and Transition. More on the F&CB program.

Family Day is an event that allows offenders in the F&CB program to spend quality time with their family, while also showing them what they are learning and how they are growing as individuals.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
