McEver PDC Hosts First GED Graduation

Three men receive certificates

FORSYTH, Ga. – On September 8, McEver Probation Detention Center (PDC), a short-term facility that houses 250 minimum-security male offenders in Perry, Ga., hosted their first General Equivalency Diploma (GED) graduation ceremony. There were three total graduates.

“We are proud of the three men who received their GED yesterday,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “This milestone would not be possible without our hardworking staff at McEver PDC.”

At the event, the valedictorian recognized Superintendent Mistie Jones with the agency’s Golden Apple Award, for her exemplary effort in helping the offenders earn their diplomas.

The GED program provides educational services to offenders who did not complete their high school education prior to incarceration. Students must pass tests in four basic subject areas: Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
