New Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Pulaski State Prison

KaSann Mahogany Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of KaSann Mahogany to deputy warden of care and treatment at Pulaski State Prison (SP), effective June 1, 2019. In this role, Mahogany will oversee the supervision of educational programs, health services, library services, counseling programs, recreational services and the mental health services of approximately 1,100 medium-security female offenders.

“Mahogany has proven to be a dedicated leader in every position she’s held in the department,” Ward said. “Her knowledge of corrections and experience will serve the offenders and the GDC well in her new position.”

Mahogany began her career with the GDC in 2001 as a correctional officer at Pulaski SP.  During her tenure at Pulaski SP, she promoted through the ranks of correctional officer I and II, field training officer, recruitment officer, rehabilitation counselor and rehabilitation health counselor III.  In 2017, Mahogany was promoted to the behavior health supervisor at Wilcox SP, where she currently serves.  

Mahogany holds a Master of Science in Family Therapy from Mercer University; a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Mercer University, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University.  She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training and Supervision I, II and III.
