FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Katherine Brown to Deputy Warden of Administration at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP) effective March 1, 2017. As Deputy Warden, Brown will be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at a facility housing over 2,140 diagnostic and close security male offenders located in Jackson, GA.

“Katherine has shown great dedication in the various positions she has held with the agency,” said Commissioner Dozier. “I am confident her tenacity will help her to be a great leader in her new capacity as Deputy Warden.”

Brown began her career with the department in 2006 as a Correctional Officer at Baldwin State Prison. She transferred to Burruss Correctional Training Center (CTC) in 2007 as a Correctional Officer II. In 2015, Brown was promoted to Business Manager at West Central ITF, where she currently serves.

Brown earned a Criminal Justice diploma from Southern Crescent Technical College. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Primary Governmental Accounting, Georgia Certified Purchasing Agent, Basic Management Training (BMT), and various GDC/Department of Administrative Services purchasing courses.
