New Director of Field Operations Named

Robert Toole Promoted

 

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Robert Toole, Deputy Director of Field Operations, to Director of Field Operations effective June 1st.  Toole will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of state facilities.

 

“Since serving in the role of Deputy Director and working within several of our facilities, Toole will bring a wealth of experience to our field operations unit,”  said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are excited to have his experience and leadership skills in this new role.”

 

Toole began his career with the GDC in 1996 as a Correctional Officer at Smith State Prison. In 2000, he transferred to Telfair State Prison and served in the roles of Counselor and Chief Counselor. He was later promoted to Unit Manager in 2006 and Superintendent of Milan State Prison in 2008. In 2010, he was selected to serve as the Deputy Director of Audits and Compliance and later, he was promoted to Warden. He served as Warden at Wilcox State Prison, Ware State Prison, and Georgia State Prison and was promoted to Regional Director of the Southeast Region in 2015, where he served until earlier this year when he was promoted to Deputy Director of Field Operations.

 

Toole holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. His departmental training includes Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), Correctional Leadership Institute (CLI), Pre-Command, and Command College.
