As Director, Wolfe will oversee the Internal Investigations Unit, Offender Affairs/Ombudsman Unit, Intelligence Unit, Compliance Unit, Apprehension Unit, and PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act). The OPS unit is responsible for gathering intelligence information, examining operations, and enforcing departmental standards and laws through audits and investigations.

“Matt has been a dedicated law enforcement leader for more than 25 years and has done an outstanding job in each of his roles,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are pleased to have him join the GDC team and continue in his service and commitment to protecting the public.”

Wolfe served as Jail Commander for the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office where he was responsible for the daily operation of the facility, and immediately prior, served as Rockdale County’s Executive Officer in the Field Services Bureau and supervised the Criminal Investigation Division.  In 2019, Wolfe was appointed as Director of Investigations for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and was promoted in 2022 to serve as Deputy Commissioner, Office of Investigation and Special Operations for the DJJ.  In that role, he was responsible for leading the Investigations Unit, the Office of the Ombudsman, and Special Operations.
