New Superintendent at Phillips Transitional Center
Verona Baly Promoted
 

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Verona Baly to Superintendent at Phillips Transitional Center (TC), effective October 1, 2021. As Superintendent, Baly will be responsible for overseeing 21 staff members and 204 male residents.

“Baly’s experience and expertise has proven to be an asset to the agency,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “I am confident that under her leadership the staff and residents will continue to excel at Phillips TC.”

Baly began her career with department in 2000 as a Correctional Officer at Phillips State Prison (SP).  During her tenure at Phillips SP, she rose through the ranks to Correctional Officer II, Sergeant, and Lieutenant.  In 2013, she was promoted to Chief of Security at Phillips TC, and in 2016 was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Phillips TC, where she currently serves.

Baly received a Bachelor of Science in Leadership with a Concentration in Disciplinary Skills from Trident International University, an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University, and an Associate in Medical Billing & Coding from Anthem College (University of Phoenix).  Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeant’s Academy, Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Supervision I, II & III, Advanced Management I, II & II, Assistant Superintendent Training, Correctional Leadership Institute, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
