New Warden at Washington State Prison

Jermaine White Promoted


FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Jermaine White, Superintendent at Albany Transitional Center to Warden at Washington State Prison, effective July 1st. As Warden, White will be responsible for overseeing 230 staff members and 1,482 medium security male offenders.


“With more than 16 years of experience in numerous positions within the agency, White’s extensive background will bring a wealth of knowledge in his new position,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “He has also shown initiative in participating in extensive leadership training in order to advance his knowledge and skill set.”


White began his career with the GDC in 2002 as a Correctional Officer at Irwin County Parole Revocation Center. He rose through the ranks from Correctional Officer to Sergeant and in 2009, he was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2010, he became a Probation Surveillance Officer at the Cordele Probation Office and was promoted to Probation Officer at the Fitzgerald Probation Office in 2012, where he served as the Assistant Probation Tactical Squad Commander of the Southwest Area. In 2013, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Lee State Prison and has served as Superintendent at the Albany Transitional Center since 2017.


White holds an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement from Thomas University and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He is a sworn member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society and has completed the following training: Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT); Basic Management Training (BMT); Professional Management Program (PMP); Advanced Management Training (AMT); Deputy Wardens Academy; Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI); Wardens Pre-Command; and is a Senior POST Instructor. He also serves on the Georgia Professional Association of Community Supervision board as the GDC Commissioner.
