Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

On June 4, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department arrested Visitor Chaka Tucker after she attempted to enter Montgomery State Prison with contraband. While attempting to enter the front bunker, security staff observed a small amount of unidentified pills located inside her mouth.  After discovering the contraband on her person, the security staff conducted a search of her vehicle, which led to the detection of an unknown amount of marijuana.

On, June 4, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department arrested Visitor Fannie Barber after she entered Calhoun State Prison perimeter with contraband. Upon arrival, the Georgia Department of Corrections Canine Unit detected contraband in her vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered two marijuana blunts, 22 pre-paid debit cards, two cell phones and one pack of rolling paper.

On June 5, Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department arrested Gayla Freeman after she was observed making an attempt to pass contraband to an inmate during visitation at Autry State Prison. Visitor Freeman consented to a search of her person and security staff discovered two small bundles wrapped in black electrical tape. The bundles consisted of 44 grams of methamphetamine.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
