Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,464 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On May 2 at Autry State Prison, civilian Jahmall Prowell was seen walking behind the facility. He was found with a bag full of unknown contraband. Prowell was arrested and transported to the Mitchell County Jail.
On April 27 at Wilcox State Prison, two subjects were observed near the facility’s wood line. One person was located and the following contraband was recovered: cell phones, promethazine, phone chargers, lighters, matches, cellphone batteries, sim cards, earbuds, marijuana and tobacco. The civilian was arrested and transported to the Wilcox County Jail.
