Contraband Arrests at Telfair State prison
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,300 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On October 2 at Telfair State Prison, Officer Tiffany McLaughlin was arrested by Telfair County Sheriff's Office after an ongoing investigation by the GDC Office of Professional Standards.
On October 2 at Telfair State Prison, the Canine Unit was conducting a vehicle search when they were alerted to a vehicle belonging to Nurse Susan Hutchinson. After searching her vehicle, contraband consisting of 4.33 grams of marijuana was recovered. Nurse Hutchinson was transported by Telfair County Sheriff's Office to Telfair County Jail.
